What to expect from a session:

Every session is different, because every pet is different. When you book a pet portrait session in my studio, there is no expectation for your pet to behave or act a certain way.

  • There is no requirement for pets to sit, stay, or hold still. I will guide you on how to interact with your pet throughout the session in a way that works for with personality, not against it.
  • Sessions typically last between 2-3 hours so that we can move at your pets pace without being rushed. Some pets settle in quickly, while others need more time to decompress. We take lots of breaks throughout the session to ensure your pet has the best experience possible.
  • We encourage humans to take part in their pets portrait session -  even if it is just for one or two shots at the end.
  • Every portrait session includes a complimentary personalized private shopping experience at PUP - A Super Neat Dog Boutique.

FAQ

Do you offer digital-only products?

Yes. Digital-only collections of 10 images are available from $1200.

That said, I believe art should live in your hands - not on the cloud - and highly encourage my clients to experience the difference of printed artwork. For each purchased print, the corresponding digital file is included at no additional cost so you can share on social media and archive as you wish.

Do you only photograph dogs?

Dogs are my main subject; however, I would love to photograph any other pets you have! You can contact me here to chat about what you have in mind.

My dog doesn't have a reliable sit / stay.

That's ok!! We work with dogs of all temperaments have a few tricks to get them to sit long enough for a photo. If needed, we do have slip leads available in the studio that can be used to help keep your dog in place (don't worry - you won't see these in the final photo!)

My dog is nervous / reactive.

No problem! Your pet will dictate that pace of the session, which is why we plan for 2-3 hours. If it takes 30 minutes or more for your pet to warm up, we still have plenty of time to capture a lot of magnificent portraits!

For reactive dogs - I ask that you let me know before the session what triggers your dog has so we can curate your session to remove as many of these as possible!

Where do your sessions take place?

Every session takes place in the pet portrait studio located inside of PUP - A Super Neat Dog Boutique in Carl Junction, MO. All sessions occur when the boutique is closed and include a private shopping session!

Do you ever offer mini sessions?

Yes! We offer limited edition mini sessions a couple of times each year. These sessions are typically one day only and sell out. Make sure you are on our email list to be notified when the next event is scheduled!

Do you work with commercial clients?

Yes! If you are a pet-focused brand and have photography needs, I would love to chat! Please contact me at kristen@pupthestore.com.
